Designed and produced by H. Stuart Hotchkiss, former President of Time Inc. Home Entertainment
I started CAPITAL TIES in 2006 in New York City as a second career after being in the book and magazine publishing business for 20+ years. That work experience and an MBA from Columbia University was certainly not the traditional background for a career in fashion, but I wanted and accepted the new challenge.
CAPITAL TIES is now headquartered in downtown Boise, Idaho on the second floor of The Union Block Building. Built in 1902 from sandstone quarried at nearby Table Rock, you could call the building Boise's first condo. At one time or another, lawyers, Republican Party staff and "ladies of the night" found space to do their business on the second floor. I haven't seen any ghosts yet.
Even in this remote part of the world, CAPITAL TIES continues to enjoy worldwide distribution of our famous neckwear via eCommerce, retail and custom channels. Our future designs, starting in Fall 2010, will reflect the diverse outdoor environment of Idaho - its flora, fauna and great recreational activities such as skiing, fly fishing, and white water rafting.
Since the inception of CAPITAL TIES, the reaction from retail store owners and custom clients such as Annapolis Yacht Club, Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, The Kennedy Center, and National Cherry Blossom Festival has been extremely positive.
We also appreciate the support from famous CAPITAL TIES customers such as Warren Buffett, Arnold Palmer and Hank Paulson. We invite all of our customers to submit a photo of themselves wearing our ties and join our website gallery.
I realize that CAPITAL TIES still has a long way to go to be considered among the elite of our industry. So please let me know when I have succeeded and when I have failed.
I promise to listen.
Sincerely,
Stuart Hotchkiss
